This new spin-class will help you fly into shape!

When it gets to winter it’s not exactly easy for me to leave my house in the freezing Chicago cold to go and work-out-ESPECIALLY at 6am. I also tend to get bored if I do the same work-out for too long and like to try new things and mix it up to keep things interesting. At this point, I should mention (or shamefully admit) that I had never been to a spin-class prior to last week!!! SHOCKING-I know- but I’ve always been a bit scared of being judged by the super fit people who I pictured attending these classes. I preferred to spin alone in the hope to get some kind of decent work-out myself. Then my husband told me about FLYWHEEL telling me it was the most fun spin class he had ever been to.

Flywheel is a 45-60 minute class done in extremely dimmed lighting with a brighter light shining on your instructor- great for someone like me who would rather not be very visible to the other riders. The studios are stadium style, meaning that all the seats allow you to see your instructor properly. The other great thing is that you can customize your bike to your body size, to ensure you get the best out of your ride.

The instructor faces the class on their bike, suggesting resistance levels and RPM’s to help you make the most of the work-out- but at the end of the day, you are in control of your own experience and can choose your own resistance and RPM. The thing I loved was the fact that the class is synced to the specially choreographed music, so not only can you get lost in the great music they play, but you end up riding to the beat of the music- helping you forget how hard you are actually working.

Your stats are available to you via your private online account, so you can measure your progress and see where you could push yourself next time.

I’m not going to lie- it was tough…..but I genuinely enjoyed it and couldn’t believe when it was over 45 minutes later. The class includes sprints/descents, hills/climbs and has an added bonus of an arm work-out using the weight bars that are attached to each bike. All in all- it was a total success and I can see this being my go-to class for the foreseeable future.

This really is the hardest I have pushed myself in a while and it felt great and I honestly didn’t realize how hard I was working out, while I was doing it. I now can’t wait for my next class and also there’s definitely something great about it being 6:45am and having done my work-out for the day!
