Our Environmental Commitment

Chomps is passionate about attaining a net positive environmental impact. Since day one, we’ve been committed to making our products with high quality, sustainably sourced proteins and have traveled to the ends of the earth (literally!) to meet with farmers who meet our criteria. Additionally, we strive to source from farmers focused on natural regenerative agriculture methods and have implemented a product donation program to eliminate waste.

We only work with suppliers who are committed to:

– Humanely raised, non-GMO project verified, 100% grass-fed and finished beef
– Antibiotic free and sustainably sourced turkey
– 100% Grass-fed and finished, sustainably sourced Venison

Going the extra mile

Dedicated to protecting the environment for generations to come, Chomps is committed to data-driven, expert-led changes to the agriculture industry. The team encompasses this mindset throughout all aspects of the company, measuring the brand's environmental impact and evaluating supply chain partners to ensure they meet the brand's commitment to move towards a fully sustainable brand.

“At our scale, when thinking about domestic and international sources, we want to uphold the highest standards, challenge our own supply base, and better our own understanding so we can ask the right questions,” said Chomps CEO and Co-Founder, Peter Maldonado.

“Pete and I have spent time in Australia, where most of our beef is sourced, and have seen the practices. It’s all rotational grazing [and] they’re working hard to make sure that it’s carbon neutral.” - Rashid Ali

Regenerative agriculture and associated techniques

Chomps only sources its beef and venison from farmers who support regenerative agriculture and rotational grazing to ensure their product is top quality. Regenerative agriculture is a nature-based approach that goes far beyond sustainability to continuously improve the entire ecosystem –– soil, water, air and animals—leaving them in better condition for future generations. The benefits of regenerative agriculture include (but are not limited to): improvements in soil health, biodiversity on land, in air and in the water, reduced soil erosion, and reductions in water pollution. Rotational grazing, a regenerative agriculture technique, divides pastures into small portions, and rotates livestock between portions of a pasture, mimicking the way animals moved in herds, to allow time for pasture grasses to regrow and improve soil health. As more land is regenerated, more vegetation is grown, and more CO2 is removed from the atmosphere – helping to reduce temperature shifts caused by rising carbon in the atmosphere. In this way, regenerative agriculture plays a critical role in addressing and reversing climate change.

Eliminating waste

Commitment to bettering the environment and community is also exemplified through the implementation of a product donation program to prevent and eliminate waste. Chomps is dedicated to supporting that mission through the donation of any meat sticks with "cosmetic defects," donating over 240,000 meat sticks per year. Partners over the years include Misfits Market, Upcycle Food Association, Salvation Army, Welfare and FEMA. By providing Chomps meat sticks to communities in need, Chomps helps make nutritious food accessible and convenient while simultaneously eliminating waste.

Since May 2023, We have offset 55,237 LB OF CO2 Emissions

We partnered with EcoCart in an effort to make every single order carbon neutral (aka net zero)! EcoCart will help us eliminate, capture, or mitigate all of the carbon emissions created from manufacturing and shipping our products.
